Certified translation by a court interpreter – what do you actually get?

Certified translation by a court interpreter it differs from an ordinary translation because the permanent court interpreter certifies with a signature, seal and prescribed certificate that the translation corresponds to the content of the document in the original language.

Such translations are most often used when documentation needs to be submitted to the Ministry of Interior, court, notary public, ministry, faculty, school, employer, bank, embassy or other institution in Croatia or abroad. If you are not sure whether you need a certified or a regular translation, send us the document and indicate where you will deliver it.

Who is the permanent court interpreter and who appoints him?

Permanent court interpreter is a person authorized to translate and certify translations in accordance with the regulations of the Republic of Croatia. He is appointed by the minister responsible for judicial affairs, with the prior opinion of the president of the competent county court.

When the institution specifically requires a certified translation, only a professionally translated document is not sufficient – a proper certification by an appointed permanent court interpreter for the language in question is required.

What does the certification of the court interpreter’s translation look like?

The court interpreter does not confirm the authenticity of the original document itself, but confirms that the translation corresponds to the document in the original language. The certification contains the prescribed confirmation, place and date of translation and record number; the translation is signed and certified with the seal of the permanent court interpreter.

What is translated on an official document?

In addition to the main text, stamps and stamps, signatures, letterheads, coats of arms, official markings, subject numbers, dates, registration numbers, handwritten notes and illegible parts of the document are marked as necessary. Special attention is paid names and surnames, dates of birth, document numbers, names of institutions, addresses and other important data.

Do I need the original document for a certified translation?

As a rule, a high-quality scan or a clear photo of the document is sufficient for a quote and price estimate. Send all pages of the document so that the entire text, names, numbers and dates, stamps, signatures, notes and the back if it contains text or a stamp are clearly visible.

On the basis of the document, we can determine the language combination, the scope of the translation, the price, the possible deadline and the availability of a suitable court interpreter.

Certified translation and Apostille – what’s the difference?

The certification of a court interpreter and the Apostille are not the same. The court interpreter certifies the translation of the document, that is, confirms that the translation corresponds to the document in the original language. Apostille is a certificate used for certain public documents intended for use in another country when such a certificate is required.

Depending on the country, the type of document and the institution to which you submit it, a certain sequence of procedures may be required. Tell us the country and the institution to which you are submitting the document, and we will direct you to the necessary procedure.
